I built FastTaxCalc because I kept running into the same problem: existing tax calculators are either too slow, too cluttered, or buried in paywalls. Whether I was figuring out GST on a client invoice, understanding VAT on a UK purchase, or trying to estimate sales tax for US customers — I just wanted a clean, fast tool that gave me the right number immediately.

FastTaxCalc started as a personal tool and grew from there. Every calculator is built around one principle: get the user to the correct number in under 10 seconds, with clear explanations and links to official sources so they can verify themselves.

How we verify tax rates

Tax rates are sourced directly from official government tax authorities — never from third-party aggregators or crowd-sourced databases. Each rate is checked against the primary source before being published, and pages display both the rate and the official source URL so you can verify independently.

Update schedule

Annual review: All tax rates are reviewed in January each year to reflect changes effective for the new tax year. UK rates are reviewed after the Autumn Budget. Indian GST rates are updated after each GST Council meeting where rate changes are announced.

Triggered updates: When a major rate change is announced (e.g. a state raises its sales tax, or HMRC changes a VAT rate), the relevant calculator page is updated within 48–72 hours of the change taking effect.

Last reviewed: January 2026. Each individual calculator page shows its own last-updated date near the top.

Found an error? If you notice a rate that looks wrong, please contact us with the correct rate and source. We review and update within 24 hours.
